This is handled on a case by case basis. But, yes, they are.

  • The limit is not large.

Size Limitations

  • 100MB Per email.

  • 100MB file size limit.

Compromised Accounts

  • Account security is your responsibility.

  • Use 2FA everywhere.

  • Use hard to guess (24+ character) passwords with a password manager.

  • We will terminate compromised accounts.

Account Inactivity

  • Inactive accounts are purged for both security and fair use reasons.

  • While we don't provide an exact timeline.. consider 6 months a rough rule of thumb.

  • Consider asking us to remove your account if you no longer need it.

I lost my password

  • That sucks.

  • If you can, use the automated recovery features.

  • We do not manually reset passwords for security reasons.

I lost my data (For any reason)

  • We do not keep backups.

  • It's your responsibility to keep your own backups.

  • We cannot restore your data.

Encryption - Email

  • Our email management interface allows you to upload a public OpenPGP and S/MIME certificate to encrypt your email at rest on the server.

  • We encourage this for all users as it's the only way our setup will encrypt your email at rest.

  • Email clients that support encrypted emails include Canary and Thunderbird.

  • Our inbox (roundcube) also supports encrypted emails. Be aware uploading your private key to our inbox removes the security benefits of keeping your key private.

  • If you use OpenPGP make sure you use a passphrase to protect the key.

Are you a bullet proof provider?

  • No.

  • We are a strong privacy advocate.

  • This does not mean we allow or encourage anything that breaks the law.
